We would like to personally invite you to a retreat for pastors and their wives April 1-2, 2016 at the Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center (5291 Stoney Creek Ct, Johnston, IA). This weekend is designed to be one of relaxing, reconnecting, and refreshing by sharing good food, good company, good worship, and good teaching.
Our featured speaker for the Pastor’s Retreat will be Owen Strachan. Dr. Strachan is the Associate Professor of Christian Theology and Director of the Center for Theological and Cultural Engagement at Midwestern Theological Seminary. In roles within the SBC and greater Evangelical sphere, Dr. Strachan serves as president of the Council on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, whose purpose is “to set forth the teachings of the Bible about the complementary differences between men and women, created equally in the image of God, because these teachings are essential for obedience to Scripture and for the health of the family and the church.” Dr. Strachan is married to Bethany, and together they have 3 children.
The cost for the event is $50 per couple. We are asking lead pastors to pass this information along and invite your other pastoral staff members to the conference. Registration fee of $50 per couple and includes one night’s lodging, a banquet dinner, and breakfast. Conference fees are due at the time of registration. Space is limited, so please register early. Registration deadline is March 1st.
This year’s event will be combined with the ONE conference for your wives. The featured speaker is Nancy Guthrie and worship will be led by The Museum. The dates of this conference are April 1st – 3rd. ONE is a weekend retreat, a get-a-way, and a conference for women who long to see Jesus exalted in their lives. It is also a place to relax, to unwind, to laugh, to change, and to connect with other women seeking Jesus. There are two separate registrations for the Pastor and Wives Retreat and the ONE conference. The registration information for both events can be found on the bciowa.org webpage under the “News and Events” tab. ONE Women’s Conference will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn (8600 Northpark Drive, Urbandale, IA). The cost for the ONE conference is $110.

FAQ’s:
How do my wife and I participate in both conferences together? After dinner together on Friday evening, women will be dismissed to attend the ONE conference in time for its start at the Hilton Garden Inn in Urbandale at 7:30pm. It is approximately 1.3 miles from Stoney Creek Hotel.
What about hotel reservations? The Pastor and Wives Retreat is from 5:00pm Friday, April 1 to noon Saturday, April 2. The ONE Women’s conference is from 7:30pm Friday, April 1 to 11:30a, Sunday, April 3.. The BCI is providing the hotel for each BCI pastor and wife only for Friday night. If you need an extra night in the hotel for Saturday night, you need to reserve a room with Stoney Creek Hotel. Or you may want to reserve a room at the Hilton Garden Inn for Saturday night.
If I register for the Pastor and Wives Retreat, do I also need to register for ONE? Yes. You must register for both events.
If my wife comes, does she have to attend the ONE conference? We are encouraging pastor’s wives to attend ONE together, but of course participation in the ONE conference is optional.
