For most Salt Companies in the Salt Network the summer months come with a dramatic decrease in attendance for Salt on Thursday nights. But here in Des Moines we have the unique opportunity to see more people attending during the summer than the school year! There are so many people from other universities who come home or have an internship in Des Moines during the summer and we get the chance to provide a biblical community that will both challenge and encourage them during the summer as well. Summer can often be the hardest season for many college students because they lose the community that they have during the year and become stagnant, or even regress in their faith walk with the Lord. But here at Salt DSM we want to make summer a time where they are continually pushed to grow in their relationship with God, even when they are not at school. We are blessed to be in the position that we are in and we are seeing God do some really incredible things in our midst. We also want summer here at Salt DSM to be a time where students can build relationships with those from other walks of life so we have many different events that we put on to encourage a sense of community for people that is bigger than themselves and an invitational culture for people to invite their friends from high school, or their co-workers, or the person they meet in a coffee shop to come and have a blast and hear the good news of what God has done for us. Please keep Salt DSM in your prayers this summer!
