Chris Mavity Transitioning Off BCI Staff After Serving as Leadership & Ministry Development Coach Since Fall 2021

As the Baptist Convention of Iowa (BCI) navigates a season of change, it is with deep appreciation and heartfelt gratitude that we take this opportunity to honor one of our valued team members, Chris Mavity.

Throughout his time with BCI, Chris exemplified unwavering dedication and authenticity, leaving an indelible mark on our convention and the pastors he served.

Chris’ final day on staff will be August 31st.

When Chris Mavity joined the BCI staff, it was evident that he brought with him a wealth of experience and a true passion for expanding and advancing churches. With over 30 years of personal church leadership and 25 years of coaching pastors and church leadership teams, Chris was an invaluable asset to the team.

Chris embraced his role with enthusiasm, understanding that ministry is most exciting when opportunities for expansion present themselves. Throughout his tenure, he worked diligently to provide expert coaching to churches large and small within the convention. Chris’s ability to coach through complex situations made him a sought-after advisor and guide for our church leaders.

Set Apart by Character & Integrity

Beyond his professional achievements, it was Chris’s character and integrity that truly set him apart. He took on additional responsibilities with humility and grace. Chris’s commitment to serving churches in innovative ways aligned perfectly with BCI’s value of Increasing Innovation to fulfill the Great Commission in new ways.

A Season of Change

In recent weeks, BCI has experienced a series of staff changes, such as Chris Eller’s resignation, Chris McRae’s well-deserved retirement, and Bob Allen’s departure from the team and acceptance of a new pastoral role in Missouri. These changes provided an opportune moment to restructure the BCI Pastor/Church Connections Team. The decision was made to consolidate multiple part-time roles into one full-time role. While considering candidates for the new leadership role, it was agreed that Chris Mavity’s ministry calling was not matched to this role. Despite the decision to discontinue his position, Chris’s response was commendable and professional, reflecting the same authenticity that defined his time at BCI.

Chris, thank you for your invaluable contributions to the Baptist Convention of Iowa. Your presence will be missed, but your influence will endure. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors and trust that wherever you go, you will continue to leave a lasting, positive impact for Christ.

Thank you, Chris Mavity!
