By Kourtney Vier, Salt Ministry Leader
June is generally a slower month for our ministry when it comes to student interaction. However, it is a busier month for staff training, equipping, and development. At the end of the semester, we sent out 11 fellow staff members to either new or existing church plants.
We hired 9 new staffers this year, which brings energy into the room, but also requires training and reorienting. Part of that included a collaboration event with not only Ames staff, but we invited staffs from the 10 other Salt Companies, to join us for white boarding and braining storming. This is the second year that we have hosted this event. Its helpful not only for new staff, but also for the collaboration of other Salt Companies.
As a network, we work hard to stay relationally connected, encourage one another, and share ideas. We hosted 67 people total. We focused on 3 parts of ministry that we want to grow in; reaching freshmen, improving student led connection groups, and sending well self-feeding seniors (and other aged students) to church plants. Leaving the collaboration, we felt like we had better ideas on how to accomplish our goals, but also that our new staff left with more clarity on their jobs and as a ministry as a whole.
Please be praying for our new staff team and the implementation of our new ideas for next year.
