Abigail, a freshman at ISU, picked up a belt to hang herself after having struggled with severe depression for years and also being sexually abused in the past. After she picked the belt up, her phone rang. For some reason, she decided to answer it. It was her classmate, Megan, who was calling to tell her she was on her way to pick her up. Megan didn’t explain where she was planning to take her, but for some reason Abigail decided to go anyway and she put the belt down.
After picking her up, Megan informed Abigail that she was bringing her to The Salt Company. That night at Salt, Abigail was overwhelmed by Jesus’ love for her and gave her life to Christ. She led her Jewish mother to Christ shortly after and she also has not struggled with severe depression since that night, although life has been very difficult at times. She is growing in her love for Jesus and God’s Word and she is an inspiration to those around her. She no longer wants to hide her past, but is sharing her story with others in hopes that they too will come to know Christ as their Savior and experience the freedom that only He can bring.
