Tim Lubinus Awarded MBTS 2024 Alumnus of the Year

June 12th, 2024 • SBC Annual Meeting • Indianapolis

Last week, Dr. Jason Allen, President of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, presented Dr. Tim Lubinus, our Executive Director, with the award for 2024 Alumnus of the Year.

Dr. Lubinus, who earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2013, has dedicated his life to ministry and leadership. Dr. Allen remarked, “To know Tim personally is such a joy. He has a heart for the Church and the role of a state convention to serve churches.” He also highlighted Tim’s focus on church planting and revitalization during his doctoral studies, adding, “This is a work he has undertaken with excellence.”

Originally from small towns in rural Iowa, Tim and his wife, Darlene, both attended Iowa State University in Ames where they were active in the college student ministry at Grand Avenue Baptist Church. After getting married, Tim, Darlene, and their four children spent 16 years in Central Asia serving with the International Mission Board.

Upon returning from the field, Tim worked at Cornerstone Church in Ames, Iowa, from 2006 to 2014. As the Regional and Global Ministry Director, he helped shape the church’s strategies for missions, church planting, and local outreach.

In 2014, Tim became the Executive Director and Treasurer of the Baptist Convention of Iowa. This year marks ten years of his service in this role. Under Tim’s leadership, the convention has grown and renewed its focus on strategic partnerships for missions and church planting across Iowa.

His dedication to ministry, both locally and globally, continues to inspire those around him. Congratulations to Dr. Tim Lubinus on this well-deserved honor. We look forward to many more years of his leadership and service.
